Lots of Color

With the holidays coming, I thought it was time to get festive. I’m using Bullseye’s Confetti (super thin pieces of glass) on top of a 15.5″ circle of clear glass.

Powdery

Here I’ve added clear frit powder to help minimize bubbles when I cap it with another clear circle.

Below you can see a much smaller version, only 7″ in diameter. They’ll be a set.

Ready to Fuse

Separated by months, here is the cut glass ready to fuse.

Fused

I forgot to take a picture of the larger piece after it was fused (shocker, I know). But here you can see the smaller one after fusing.

Ready to Slump

For the larger piece I’m using the Ball Surface mold (8738). Below I’m using the Cone Bowl mold (8943).

Slumped

Both pieces successfully slumped, and it’s finally time to see them together.

Acrylic Stand

But first, one last little bit. Because the surface of the bottom of this mold is a beautiful uninterrupted curve, it’s unstable. But I don’t intend for this to be a sculptural piece. I’d like to see it used.

So I went to a local acrylic and plastic shop with the bowl, and the wonderful man there cut a super thin ring for me!

Final Result

I’m delighted with this festive set. It’s the biggest bowl I’ve done to date and the size really contributes to the wow factor.

The confetti was super easy to use and the result is super fun. Win win.

Couldn’t resist a close-up of the rim of the larger bowl.
